Charles "Gookie" S. Sage Obituary

Charles Singley "Gookie" Sage, 92, of Villas, NJ passed away on March 2, 2024, peacefully in his home.


Gookie was born in the Meadows of Southwest Philadelphia to Sarah and Vincent Sage on March 4th, 1931. He fell in love and married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Medori, at the young age of 19. He worked as a ceramic tile setter for the local masonry union for 30 + years, alongside working a part time job to support his family before retiring in 1992 and settling permanently with his wife in the Villas, NJ. He loved to hunt, play cards, bowl and fish on his beloved boat "The Digger". He was a supportive husband, dad, and grandpop. He loved his family so much and enjoyed every moment spent with them. He loved conversation and he told the best stories. He made a friend wherever he went.


Gookie is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Margaret "Oggie" Sage (Medori). His daughter Margie "Swoops" Pannirello (Lenny), granddaughters Andrea Abdo (Scott), Lea Anderson (Wayne), Jacqui Sage (Mitchell), four great grandchildren Gianna, Nico, Angelo, Gabriella, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and predeceased by his son Charles Singley "Buck" Sage Jr.


Service and celebration of life will be held at a later date, that will be shared by the family.
