Denman John Sweetman passed away of a basilar artery stroke on Tuesday, January 30,
2024. He was 85, and had not been ill. Den was born on May 14, 1938 in Passaic, New
Jersey, and grew up with his Mother and Father, Denman and Marie Sweetman, in Pompton
Plains, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering at Bucknell University,
followed by an MBA at Harvard. He married Beverly Anne Yarroll on April 1, 1961, with
whom he raised two boys, Den and Bert. He also enjoyed a long and successful career.
He started playing tennis at a young age and continued to the varsity team at Bucknell. He
played throughout his life, and played avidly until the very end. He also enjoyed boating and
sailing at the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May.
He was a family man through and through, enthusiastically working to support his loved ones’
lifelong goals and challenges. He was extremely generous with his time and energy, helping those he cared about as well as others he found in need. He rarely asked for help for himself, but very much appreciated help when he needed it. He was the best.
He leaves behind his wife, Beverly, who continues to reside in Cape May Point, New Jersey. He
also leaves behind his two sons, Den and Bert.
His interment of ashes ceremony will be at Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery on Thursday,
February 8, at 1:00 PM.
