Edward T. Iames, Sr., 89, of Cape May, NJ entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 7th surrounded by his loved ones at his home.
He was born in Cincinnati Ohio. Ed loved his country and proudly served in the United Staes Navy as a radarman on an ice breaker.
He worked his first career as a chemist and was known to bring home hockey pucks and superballs to his kids. Along his journey, he was a truck driver, bus driver and drove for meals on wheels for Cape May County. He then worked as a painter for the county and eventually became the Supervisor of the Paint Department.
Ed was a devout Catholic and was a Eucharistic Minister for St. John of God Roman Catholic Church. He was a 4th degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus where he also served as a Color Corps Commander.
Edward was preceded in death by his grandparents Amelia and Ed Armstrong and his beloved children Matthew and MaryJo.
Left to cherish his memory is his adoring wife of 69 years, Claire; his children Mark, Susan, Michael, Sandi (Ray Revans), Edward Jr. (Yvonne), Paul, Terri and David; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and Auntie Boots.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4PM to 6PM Friday, January 12th at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May NJ and 10AM to 11AM Saturday, January 13 at Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God 680 Town Bank Road North Cape May. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will be held Tuesday, January 16 at 11AM on the grounds of St. Mary Cemetery North Cape May.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Edward's name to the St. Jude's Research Hospital or the Knights of Columbus Chapter 3546.
