Obituary of Millicent L. Pearce
Please share a memory of Millicent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Millicent L. Pearce (Stark), aged 97, died peacefully on Dec. 23, 2023. She was born and raised in Nutley, NJ and shared 57 wonderful years of marriage to her husband, Homer Pearce, who predeceased her.
Millicent lived a full life. She was quite musical: she played the piano, was the church organist, and sang in the choir. She worked as a secretary for Montclair Golf Course, Western Electric, and Duchess County Community College. She and Homer were avid golfers; they attended many Army reunions across the country; and Millicent loved reading to kindergarten classes when they retired to St. Augustine, FL. Missing family (especially grandchildren), they returned north to Brick, NJ, although they kept a time-share on Sanibel Island, FL where they reveled in collecting shells and fishing from the pier. While in Brick, they continued to golf and enjoyed fishing from Chris Stark's boat.
Millicent is survived by her son, Craig Pearce, and his wife Maureen of Sammamish, WA; her daughter, Lydia Pagliaro, and her husband George of North Cape May, NJ; her son, Marty Pearce, and his wife Naomi of Honolulu, HI; and her nephew, Christian Stark, and his wife Marianne of Wall, NJ.
Her grandchildren will cherish the wonderful times they spent with her and Homer, both as children and as adults with their families. She will be sadly missed by Eric Pagliaro, his wife Merchi, and their children Isabella and Fernando; and by Chris Pagliaro, his wife Maria, and their children Mila and Dashiell.
She also leaves behind her granddaughter Siobhan, her partner Jeff, and their children John, Kiera, and Ryan; and her grandson Tristan.
A private ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Brigadier General Willian C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living and Serenity Hospice for their kind care of Millicent. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Brookdale Cape May Employee Holiday Fund, 591 Route 9 S, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
