Betty was always one of the most kind and hard working people at Hereford Light. Always the smile and twinkle in her eye. She certainly added to the charm of the Lighthouse and City of North Wildwood. From one Lighthouse family to another...Shine on Betty! Rest in peace.

I didn't know Betty well, but as a young lighthouse researcher who visited Hereford lots in the mid 2010s, I can attest that she was both beautiful inside and out and a professional who took her lighthouse work very seriously. She was a great help to me, and I know she was Steve's right-hand lady for quite a while. I am honored to have met her and I know that her legacy will live on.

Remembering Betty. Betty was a friend, first and foremost. A customer as well, but a friend. She was the Momma Bear of the Lighthouse at Hereford Inlet and Steve’s gardens. If you ventured onto the grounds, you had to follow the rules or you had Betty to deal with. Protective of the same to the ultimate, as if the property was her own. That is the test of the Keeper of the Light. There is something symbolic about lighthouses, but the true nature is the people and personalities that make each one something special. Betty Mugnier made Hereford Inlet Lighthouse something special, was something special and she will be missed not only by family and friends but the entire Lighthouse community.
