Obituary of Salvador Riggi

Villas, NJ resident, Salvador A. Riggi Jr., 65, was released from the ravages of Parkinson's Disease on November 7, 2023, at Cape Regional Medical Center. Sal was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 8, 1958 to Salvador Sr. and Anna (nee Donato), who were both World War II veterans. He was fascinated by stars and rocks since childhood. This carried on throughout his life. He graduated from Jersey State College in 1980 with a B.A. in Geosciences, then he proceeded to graduate from Wright State University in Ohio with an MS in Geology. He continued to be an adjunct Professor at Jersey City State College and Atlantic Cape Community College. He held a U.S. patent on Innovative Technology for Remediation of Heavy Metals in Soils. Sal was a fourth degree knight with the Monsignor Moorney Assembly 671 of Wildwood, New Jersey and third degree knight with St. John Neuman Council 3546 of Villas, New Jersey. He was also a devout catholic, serving in multiple church functions with St. John of God Church. From 2009-2011, he served as Executive Director of Friends of Cape May Jazz, LLC. Sal could be found gazing at the night sky with his various telescopes. His favorite quote was from Albert Einstein, "God does not play dice with the universe." He is survived by his sisters: Andrea Noto of Villas and Donna Marie Riggi of Glen Gardner, NJ; his God mother, Anna DeAngelo of Raleigh, N.C. as well as cousins and many people who called him "Uncle". A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Monday, November 13, 2023, with a viewing beginning at 10:00am, at St. John of God R.C. Church, parish of St. John Neuman, in North Cape May, followed by the mass at 11:00am. His internment will be private.
