Obituary of Matthew Pinto

Please share a memory of Matthew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Matthew Pinto, 77, Cape May, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 1 at Pelican Pointe North Cape May where he had been a guest for seven months. Born February 21, 1946 in Newark NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Caroline (Dalbo) Pinto. Matt retired after 32 years of working as the Superintendent of Public Works for Pequannock Township in Pompton Plains NJ. He proudly retired with never missing a day of work. When he was younger, he bowled in many different leagues, was a collector of Corvettes and was a fire marshal for the Pompton Plains Fire Co. #1. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed golfing and spending his days on the beach either taking in the sights, watching the sandpipers scurry about or just relaxing and taking a nap. He found great pride in caring for his backyard pond which was filled with many beautiful Koi. He had a love of music, especially DooWoop which would still make him smile no matter when he heard it. Matt will forever be missed by the love of his life Carole (Finkle) whom he married June 30, 1974. He and Carole would have two daughters Nicole and Melissa. The Pinto family grew when Nicole married Michael Rudge and Melissa met Mat Fichot. The greatest gift Matt received was his granddaughter Payton. She would become the apple of his eye. He will also be missed by his sister Carol Alazio and her husband Bart; nephew Bart Jr. and niece Tara; and many dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 6 from 10AM until 12PM at Scanlan Funeral Home 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike Pompton Plains NJ 07444. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May has been entrusted with arrangements. The family would prefer that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson's Foundation www.parkinson.org in memory of Matt and the courageous battle he had fought.
