Obituary of Thomas F Hanlon

Thomas F. Hanlon, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and formerly of Keansburg, New Jersey and Jackson, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, August 12 in Florida. Predeceased by his wife, Audrey Hanlon, his parents, Thomas F. and Anna Walsh Hanlon, his brother Robert F. Hanlon, and two brothers-in-law, James Kroeper and Ralph Choffo, he is survived by his three children, Daniel Hanlon and his partner Sari Baker, Wendy Jameson and her husband Michael; and Amy Hanlon; two grandchildren, Riley and Fisher Jameson; two sisters, Eileen Kroeper and MaryAnne Choffo; two sisters-in-law, Camille Hanlon and Margaret Montet; four granddogs; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was born in Newark, NJ, in 1942, served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1961 through 1965, and graduated from Stockton State College (now Stockton University) with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1975. He worked for DuPont and the Social Security Administration from which he retired in 2004. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, baking, cooking, raising fruit trees and pineapples, watching British mysteries, watching baseball (especially the University of Florida), meeting his children and grandchildren for breakfast on Sunday mornings, and solving challenging puzzles. Prior to retiring, he would spend his time restoring classic cars and playing poker with his work friends. Once retired, he loved traveling with Audrey, they went on many trips to Europe and throughout the US. He enjoyed spending a few months each year in Cape May, NJ, where along with his own home in Port Saint Lucie, he displayed his brilliance for gardening, home repairs, and DIY projects. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Cape May, NJ. Mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 9:30 am. Interment with Military honors will take place following the Mass at Cold Springs Presbyterian Church and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Tom be sent to Cape May County Zoo Society. www.capemayzoosociety.org
