Alice V. (Stires) Davis, 95, was reunited with her eternal father on Friday, August 18th . Born February 28, 1928 in Oxford, NJ, she was the daughter of Maude and John Stires. Alice was married to her late husband, Herbert W. Davis, on June 28, 1947, and remained by his side for 56 years, until his passing on May 9, 2002. After the passing of her husband, she became a member of the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Villas NJ, where she would volunteer filling bags of food for people in need. Alice will be deeply missed by so many. She had a large loving family and had many titles; Wife, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Nanny, Grandma, and friend. She is survived by her 6 children, Herb, Rich, Joanne Hockenbury (Will), Alice Stewart (Scott), Glenn (Tara), and Peggy Compton (Rich), 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Virginia Hubert of Milford, NJ and predeceased by 4 siblings Marie, Mattie, John Jr., and Edgar. Services for Alice will be held Thursday, August 24 at 1:00 pm. Afterwards she will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery.
