June C. Shields, 85, of Villas, NJ entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 29th at Pelican Pointe where she had been a guest since May. Born April 12, 1938 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Feil) Daly. She was a member of St. Raymond Roman Catholic Church, Villas and the Federation of Seniors of Lower Township where she was known as the "Sunshine Girl". She was also a member of the "Grant Street Bums" which met daily on the beach. June was known by many of the locals for over 20 years as a waitress at the former Chalkis Restaurant and the Castaway Café in the Villas. She had a knack for remembering her customers' orders and having them placed before they sat down to eat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Michelle Lloyd; grandson Joseph T. Lloyd; and husbands Joseph F. Lloyd (1977) and Matthew Shields (2010). She is survived by her four children Sharon Stewart (Bruce), Valerie Szymendera (Michael Sr.), Jay Lloyd (Karin), and Lynn Wixted (Gerald Jr), 10 grandchildren Gregory Jones (Gina), Michael Szymendera, Jr., Taryn Lloyd, Taylor Lloyd, Gerald Wixted III (Jami), Staci Wixted (Pamela), Christopher Wixted (Danielle), Rachel Jensen (Nathaniel), and Kevin Wixted (Rylie); six great grandchildren Samuel Jones, Shannon Jones, Colby Drayton, Jamie Drayton, Harper Wixted and Dawson Wixted; and many dear friends and customers who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by Matthew's children Patricia Lux (the late Robert Lux), Matthew Shields (Karen), Julia Mulligan (Earl), Kathleen Stellato (Joseph), Michael Shields (Stacie) and Maryellen Hill (Pete) as well his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 4th at 11AM at St. Raymond Roman Catholic Church 25 East Hudson Ave. Villas NJ. Rev. Miles Barrett will be the Officiant. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Friday from 10AM until the time of Mass. Interment will take place on the grounds of Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery 127 Crest Haven Road Cape May Court House NJ. It was June's wishes that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in her memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society at the NationalMSSociety.org or to Shriners Hospitals for Children at donate.lovetotherescue.org or mail to 3551 North Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19140 Attention: Finance Department.
