Obituary of Glenn Lewis
Please share a memory of Glenn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn (Lefty) A. Lewis, 83 formerly of North Cape May, NJ
announce his peaceful passing surrounded by family on 18 July, 2023.
Lefty was born 22 July 1939 to the late Edith Williams and Glenn Lewis in Wilkes-Barre, PA. As a boy, he
had a love for the game of baseball that continued on throughout the rest of his life. Go Yankees!
Lefty graduated from High School in 1957 and enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. After
serving almost 2 years in the Army National Guard, Lefty decided to change branches and transitioned
into the United States Coast Guard. Lefty dedicated 30 years of his life retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer
Four (CW4) on 10 October 1986. Lefty was stationed in multiple States throughout his military career
which led to him meeting his beautiful wife, Sheri Lewis in the early 1960's.
Lefty and Sheri met in Florida where he was stationed and she was attending nursing school. Lefty and
Sheri married on 17 August 1963 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lefty and Sheri were blessed to have four
children. Lefty will be forever missed by his children Scott, husband of Cathy, Sean, husband of Sandi,
Kevin husband of Christina and Erin Fiancé of Brandon. Lefty had eleven grandchildren; Dylan, Allison,
Evyn, Ashlyn, Ryan, Brooklyn, Kody, Savannah, Travis and (Destiny & Ray Jr.). Lefty also had five great
grandchildren Chloee, Lylah, Abel, Paxton and Drew.
Lefty loved being active and enjoyed spending his time playing racquetball, softball and golf (walking
whenever he could). He also made his daily trips to the gym (C-View, Bayshore, and 5-West). Lefty was
quick witted and could always make people laugh and put a smile on your face; he was truly something
else. Lefty will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends, but can rest peacefully now being
reuniting with his beautiful wife Sheri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 (would have been Lefty's 84th birthday) at Seashore Community Church. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30am, with services following immediately after. A luncheon will be held in Lefty's honor at the Lobster House in Cape May 3:00pm.
