Obituary of Ellanora Joan Schellenger

Ellanora Joan Schellenger Chesapeake, Virginia - (Ellanora) Joan Schellenger, 91, died peacefully in her sleep July 17, 2023. She was born November 14, 1931, in Wildwood, New Jersey, the daughter of Frank Tellus Church and Elizabeth Elsie (Schultz) Church. Joan graduated from Cape May High School in June of 1950 and worked in banking most of her life. Shortly after high school she married Melbourne Daniel Schellenger and settled in Erma, New Jersey. Melbourne passed on to heaven in December 1999. Soon after Melbourne's passing she came to live with her daughter Karen and her family in Chesapeake, Virginia. She is also predeceased by her grandson Mark Andrew Showalter and her son-in-law Mark Allen Trudell. Surviving Joan are her three daughters; Karen (Schellenger) Murphy and her husband Harry Murphy of Chesapeake, Virginia, her daughter Lynn (Schellenger) Soffer of Florida, her daughter Aline (Schellenger) Trudell of Concord, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Laura Murphy, Jennifer Rose and her husband Matthew Rose, Tyler Murphy, Alyssa Soffer, Jessica Morgan and her husband Scott Morgan; six great grandchildren; Quintin Weldon, Olivia Rose, Aurelia Rose, Briar Rose, Landon Morgan, and Emma Morgan; two brothers, Frank Church and his wife Diane, and David Church and his wife Ruth; many nieces and nephews and countless friends who love her. A service will be held Tuesday, July 25th at Evoy's Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road in North Cape May, New Jersey. Viewing will be at 11:00 a.m. with a service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Joan requested that donations be made to a cancer fund.
