Obituary of Michael Franek

On Thursday evening July 13th, Michael Franek, 70, entered into eternal rest at Fountain Springs at Cape May after his courageous battle with colon cancer. Born November 15, 1952 in the Bronx New York, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Lacek) Franek. Michael and his siblings Thomas, Elaine and Helen grew up in Saddlebrook NJ. After high school he accepted a letter carrier position with the United States Postal Service, Bergenfield NJ. If you were to ask anyone who knew Michael, they would describe him as a very giving and good hearted-person who loved people. He made friends everywhere he went. He moved to Cape May County six years ago and with that move his friendships increased as did his involvement in the community. He would visit Douglas Park everyday and afterwards meet for breakfast with his buddies. He also became active in the Moose Lodge #1054 as well as the Stella Maris Home Association. Michael was known by many for his love of gardening especially his vegetable garden. At one point he had over 100 tomato plants and he made sure to share his crops with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his brother Thomas and his partner Kathleen Quinn; sisters Helen Cotrone and Michael Marsico; Elaine Materon and husband George; nieces Kimberly and Stacy Franek; nephews Jason and Christopher Scarano; and many dear friends. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects 10AM Wednesday, July 19 at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May. Funeral services will be held at 11AM with Rev. Miles Barrett, Officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would prefer donations be made to the charity of your choice in Michael's memory.
