McGorry, Maryann (nee McDermott), of Rio Grande NJ, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, June 16,2023, surrounded by her loving husband, Bill McGorry and family. Maryann was born August 7, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late James McDermott and Marie McDermott (nee Roy). She is survived by her loving husband William of 25 years, and their adopted grandson Cameron, her loving brother Edward McDermott (& wife Teresa), niece Amanda, loving sister-in- law Clare Ariano (& husband Nick), and loving brother-in-law James (& Sandra), and is predeceased by her brother James. She attended Archbishop Prendergast HS in Drexel Hill PA. At the age of 21 she became the primary caregiver for her younger brothers James and Edward after the early deaths of their parents. She worked for Gulf Oil in Philadelphia, Fernwood Diner in East Lansdowne, and then at Devine's Restaurant in Upper Darby, PA. She was a bright light in this world! She will be missed by all the various people she befriended at the many businesses she would regularly frequent and would easily strike up immediate conversations with anyone she met as if she had known them for a long time. Maryann will be missed, and we know is resting in peace! Service will be held Saturday June 24th at St. John Neumann Parish/Saint Raymond Church, 800 Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ 08251 with visitation 10:00 AM, followed by funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
