Anthony A McGowan Obituary

Anthony A. McGowan, formerly of Philadelphia, entered into eternal rest

Saturday, June 3 at Atlantic Care Mainland, Galloway NJ.


Born April 19, 1951, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and

Lena (Eberhart) McGowan.


After graduating from George Washington High School; he served in the

United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was employed by

the Federal Government as a data base administrator. His career required

intense schooling that led him to take college courses from Lasalle University,

St. Joseph's University and Bucks County Community College.


He was an active member of the Greater Cape May Elks Lodge #2839. Back in

Philadelphia he was active in the youth soccer programs and served as

the Soccer Commissioner for 12years at Vogt Playground. He was also a member

of the Philadelphia Playground Association.


Tony could be found on the Wildwoods Boardwalk working on the Sightseers

Tram Car. He worked on the Tram Car for four seasons, even working alongside

his daughter Kelly Anne.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael

Edward McGowan, Sr. (November 5, 2022).


Tony will be forever loved and missed especially by his wife of 50 years,

the former Kathleen Doyle; son Anthony A., Jr.; daughter Kelly Anne

Voll (Michael); son Timothy Michael; daughter-in-law Nicole McGown;

27 grand and great grandchildren; sister Helen Fahs (William);

several nieces and nephews; many dear friends both in Philadelphia

and Cape May County.


Arrangements have been entrusted to Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Rd.,

North Cape May NJ 08204.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

A Celebration of Tony's life will be announced at a later date.
