Obituary of Elizabeth M. Lockbaum

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth “Liz” Lockbaum (Hays) December 29, 1941 – May 27, 2023 At the age of eighty-one years old, Elizabeth passed away peacefully in her Villas NJ home surrounded by love and in a place that she was happiest “down the shore”. A lifelong Villas NJ summer resident and full-time resident of the last 12 years, following her retirement from Dalton Insurance in Glassboro. Previously employed with ADAM Wholesalers/MAMCO, Cumberland Farms and Walbers on the Delaware. Liz, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, enjoyed spending time with her Villas neighbors – “the absolute best neighbors you could ask for” she would say. Liz enjoyed reading, playing cribbage, shelling, watching her birdfeeders, but most of all spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, and lifelong best friends Chuck and Mabel Hassiepen, who were always ready for an adventure. Liz would say, all I had to do was call Mabel and she’d reply, “when do we leave?” Family time was spent at the beach fishing, crabbing, shell-collecting, and playing with her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Mom-mom” which she would say was certainly more important than making dinner. Earlier on, Liz was a Girl Scout leader for several years in Leedom - Ridley Park, PA. She enjoyed camping, crafts, ceramics, teaching and learning from her girl scouts, three of which were her own daughters. Liz was predeceased by the love of her life Charles “Jake” Lockbaum, her parents George and Katherine Hays of Norwood Pa, sister Mary, and son in law Stephen Czarkowski. Survived by her children: Lorita (Lorrie) Czarkowski, Atco NJ, Karen Lewis, Bradenton FL, Charles Lockbaum, Norwood PA and Catherine Beardsley, Franklinville NJ, Sister Katherine, Cape May Court House, Grandchildren: Joe (Felicia), Kim (Tim), Andrew, Katie (Hugo), Ricky, Harrison, Emily and Luke. 9 Great grandchildren: Korbin, Fiona, Finn, Hugo, Leo, Eva, Jaden, Charlie and Sophia. Liz is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday June 3, 2023 from 10 to 11 am. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM and be followed followed by a small luncheon. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions in Memory of Elizabeth Lockbaum be made to: The Wetlands Institute 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd, Stone Harbor NJ 08247 https://wetlandsinstitute.org
