Mary Eleanor Murr Fields Pierce, 92, Del Haven entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 13 at her home surrounded by her family. Born June14, 1930 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Park P. and Mary Grace (Williams) Murr. She was employed as an accounting clerk for the former Bell Telephone from 1948 to 1959. She later was employed by the Cape May County Zoo from 1983 to 1985 working at the concession stand.
She was an active member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Villas. Mary was a devout Christian who taught Sunday school spanning multiple decades. She loved Schwan's ice cream, homemade iced tea, and anything angelic in nature. Cardinals frequented the feeder in her yard and brought her great joy. She also enjoyed dancing with her grandchildren any time the family got together and was known to tear up the living room with the electric slide.
She was loved by her children and grandchildren both near and far.
Mary Eleanor was preceded in death by her first husband Albert C. Fields (1972); second husband Phillip Pierce, Sr. (2003); sister Elizabeth Smith; son-in-law Mike Frame and son-in-law Harry Dunn.
Surviving are her children Lynda Fields, Dorothy J. Mitchell (Andrew), Barbara Frame, and Ruth Robinson (Dave); Step children Phillip Pierce Jr. (Rose Mary), Laura Dunn, Sarah Pierce; 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 3 great- great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Cold Spring Cemetery. Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May has been entrusted with arrangements.
