I am so sorry to hear the news about Kerry. I have lived behind them on Hollywood Rd. For 25 years. Kerry and Paul were great neighbors and I will miss them both

I've been a waiter in Cape May for most of my adult life. By my crude math, i estimate that i've served over a hundred thousand meals. And as a result i have met nearly a hundred thousand people. The reason the number of meals don't evenly match the number of people is because of what we call in the business 'regulars'. Regulars are dinner guests who frequently attend the same restaurant over and over again. Kerry St. John was one of those people. And she (and her late husband, Paul) were my regulars. And i loved them from the moment we first met. Paul was very gregarious and fond of good natured ribbing and pg-13 level jokes. And Kerry was the epitome of grace, kindness and warmth. It only took a few meals before i took to giving Paul a hug upon entrance and subsequently planting a lil' smooch on Kerrys cheek ... always sure not to knock off one of the many stylish hats she wore. For years that was our relationship. It wasn't bringing food, refilling water and handing off a check. It was spending time with friends and sharing stories and laughs. And it was something i very much cherished. In fact, when the restaurant eventually closed, knowing that i would not see them on a regular basis was one of the things that upset me most. James Taylor said that the secret of life is enjoying the passing of time. My life was made fuller and brighter as a result of meeting Mrs St. John becoming her friend and enjoying our time, together. God speed Kerry, and warm thoughts to your family at this difficult time.
