Valda J Cullen, age 81, of Cape May Court House passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 with her children by her bedside. She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Francis J Cullen; loving mother of Joe Cullen (Donna) of Swainton, Bob Cullen (Diane) of Hammonton, and Valerie Cullen Netsch (Robert) of Kitty Hawk, NC. Survived by 7 grandchildren: Sean, Meghan, Julianne, Allie, Caroline, Evan, Hilarey, and many nieces and nephews. Valda is also survived by her brother Ronald Johnson (Gloria) and predeceased by her brothers: Jack, Robert, and Larry Johnson. Valda was born in Merchantville, NJ to the late John A Johnson and Caroline Mangeng Johnson. Raised in Merchantville, she later went on to graduate from the Philadelphia School of Business. In her earlier years, Valda was a proud homemaker and devoted her time to the PTA and Cub Scouts. She volunteered tirelessly to start a Learn to Swim Program in Pennsauken, NJ. Settling in Cape May she worked at Kindle Ford as a Title Clerk, then later owned and operated Second Best Childish Things in Villas, later retiring as the manager of the Sea Breeze Motel in Cape May. Above all Valda treasured her time with Fran and family members. Relatives and friends will be received for visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 PM with a service to follow on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ. Burial will be at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053.
