Obituary of George Burns

GEORGE L. BURNS, Sr. departed this earth on December 28, 2022, at the age of 92. He was a resident of Ashland, NJ for over forty years before relocating to Villas, NJ where he resided for over thirty-years. He leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Jane M. Burns (nee Cargen), daughter, Lori McEwing (Brian), grandsons, Brian McEwing (Jodie), Ian McEwing (Kate), Shawn Burns (Laura), granddaughter Morgan Eveland (Bryan), and many great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son George L. Burns, Jr. He was an Army veteran serving two tours of duty during the Korean War, enlisting in 1948 with service in Japan, and was recalled in 1950 for service in Germany. He was life member of VFW Post 5343, Villas, NJ and past All State Quartermaster. He was purchasing agent for Jack Frost Sugar Refining Company in Philadelphia, PA until the plant closed, and thereafter was outside salesman for various paper bag companies, until his retirement. A memorial service is scheduled 10:30am on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at St. Barnabas By The Bay Episcopal Church, 13 W. Bates Ave, Villas where friends may visit from 9:30am-10:30am. burial to follow at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, 129 Crest Haven Rd., Cape May Court House.
