Florence Wojnar Statkiewicz, 92, passed away on November 10, 2022 at her home. She was born in Philadelphia on April 29,1930 and was formerly from Melrose Park. She had been a Cape May County resident since 1983 where she earned her real estate diploma at NJ Professional School of Business. Florence graduated from Haverford High School and was the owner of Florence's Beauty Salon in Philadelphia. She also worked for the IRS and as a tax examiner. Florence had a passion for music and studied voice with Madame Henrietta Conrad of Dresden Opera Co. She performed in churches and at social events often with her daughter accompanying her at the organ. Florence also enjoyed Metropolitan Opera Saturday broadcasts and entertaining artists at her home. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, gardening (especially roses), oil painting, sewing dresses and gowns for her daughter and herself, designing hats and writing poetry. Florence was a past matron of the Eastern Star St Johns Chapter 4 OES of Philadelphia and a member of 156 OES of Cape May later Shekinah #82. She was a member and Chaplain of NARFE, the past president of Senior Citizens of North Cape May. Florence and her husband, Walter, hosted trips to Spain, Hawaii, Italy and within the US. She was active in the Cape May Classics Red Hats Society and was Ms. Cape May County 1992 in the Ms. New Jersey Senior Pageant. She also worked as a member of the County Board of Elections. Florence is still known as the "hat lady" at St. Raymond's RC Church and embraced her spirituality. She enjoyed a conversation with Bishop Sheen, and while in Rome, she and Walter were blessed by Pope John II who also had canonized her uncle Archbishop Joseph Sebastian Pelczar. She would like to be remembered as "someone who made you happy". "Don't judge my mistakes too harshly but remember me by the happy moments we shared". She was an admiring wife, a proud mother and a friend to all. Florence is survived by her daughter Sharon (Joseph L.) Sciuto, nieces Marianne (Henry) Jackowicz and Maryann D'Andrea and nephew Robert (Paula) Statkiewicz, 5 great-grandchildren and dearest friend and sister Pat Tater. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter Statkiewicz Sr. (2014), son Walter Statkiewicz Jr. (2021), brother Dr. Victor Wojnar and sister Stella Hoffman.
