Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BARTON, GERALD, - 67, of Wildwood, May 20, 1954 - April 25, 2022 Gerald David Barton, known as Gerry by many, died on April 25, 2022 at the age of 67 at his home in Wildwood, NJ. Raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia, he moved to Wildwood, NJ in his late 20's. Gerald felt a strong connection to his Norwegian heritage – his mother, Ingeborg "Lillian" Barton (Jorgensen), emigrated from Norway in 1925. He enjoyed cooking, but particularly loved making Norwegian food that reminded him of his childhood. During his free time, one of his favorite activities was feeding and building trust with the ducks and squirrels at the nearby park, and then animatedly sharing his stories and videos of his encounters with friends and family. Gerald was a talented photographer who felt especially inspired by the beauty of lighthouses. He enjoyed spending time with nature, which can be observed through his stunning array of landscape portraits. Gerald's passion for photography blossomed over the years and he often generously shared his talent with those around him. Though Gerald has passed from this life, his work will live on and continue to inspire for years to come. Gerald leaves behind his two children: Daniel (Monique) Barton and Janice Barton; his four sisters: Sigrid (Milton) Canaan, Karen Barton, Kathy (Joseph) Breuss, and Molly (Edward) Wiseley; his older brother: Kelly (Doreen) Barton; and was preceded in death by his younger brother, Brion Barton. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Cape Regional Medical Center for going above and beyond in their care for Gerald. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gerald's honor to the Wildwood Historical Society: www.wildwoodhistoricalmuseum.com.
