Obituary of Walter Edge Evans
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Walter Edge Evans, 77, of Rio Grande, NJ, passed away on April 12, 2022 at home in the loving care of his wife of 44 years, Kathy.
Walt was born May 1, 1944 in Philadelphia to the late Henry Blanchard Evans and Helen Lendrzinski and lived in Mt Ephraim, NJ. After Graduating from Camden Catholic High School in 1962 Walt went on to study Information Technology which led to his 35 year career with the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Walt and Kathy lived in Cinnaminson, NJ while they were raising their 4 children Michael (Lisa) Evans, Michelle (David) Stevens, Mark Evans, and Matthew Evans. He was pleased to witness both his grandchildren's weddings in 2021, Dana to David Bondarevsky and Daniel Stevens to Arianna.
While living in Cinnaminson, Walt volunteered with the Cinnaminson Fire Department. He was also known to have a love for trains, skiing, sailing, and fishing; often incorporating these hobbies into vacations with family and friends. He was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and was excited to live long enough to cheer them to a Super Bowl victory in 2018.
Walt asked his family to have his ashes scattered in a private ocean ceremony. His family appreciates your love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Soroptimist International of Cape May County (PO Box 65 Cape May NJ 08204) that will offer an IT Scholarship in his name. Condolences may be shared at www.evoyfuneralhome.com.
