John Truman "Jack" "JT" Fidler, age 81, of N Cape May passed away peacefully Saturday, December 28, 2013 with his daughter by his side. Born in Philadelphia, he resided there and in Haddon Heights, NJ before moving to N Cape May in 1979. He graduated from Overbrook High School and Charles Morris Price School of Advertising & Journalism at Temple University. John served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as a Corporal in the 101st Airborne 82nd Division, D Battery 35th AAA Regamine. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. His work life included working at Colson Lumber and Swain's Hardware in Cape May. John was a member of St Barnabas by the Bay Episcopal Church in Villas, NJ. He loved traveling to Florida every year, interacting with his four grandsons, and was a most devoted Eagles fan. John is survived by his wife of 47 years Martha (nee Evoy); his daughter Jennifer (Michael - Senior Chief Petty Officer USCG) Lee; and his grandchildren: PO3 Jordan (Diana) K Lee (USCG), Mikaele K Lee, Keoni Ikaika Kekoa Lee, & Christian Keawe Lee. Also surviving are his niece Cynthia Bell, his beloved in-laws, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. There will be a funeral service at 12 noon on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
