Obituary of James "Shamus" P. Hirst

James P. Hirst, age 89 of North Cape May, passed away on March 3, 2022. He is predeceased by Joan Hirst, his parents, George and Catherine Hirst, brothers George and Paul Hirst, sister Marie Hirst and grandson Patrick Hirst. Survivors: Jim (Diane) Hirst, Joann (Paul) Morse, Michael Hirst (Rose), Nancy (Mark) Zinkewich, Judy Hammer (Fred), cherished grandfather of 12, great grandfather to 15, as well as many nieces and nephews. James, better known as Shamus, worked for over 30 years at The Philadelphia Inquirer. He enjoyed the warm sunshine of Florida, going to the racetrack, and playing cards with family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Funeral Mass: 11:00am on Wednesday, March 9th at St. John of God Catholic Church, 680 Townbank Road, North Cape May, NJ. Visitation: 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday at the church.
