Uncle Walt could always light up a room with his music and laughter. Here he is, at 82, still belting out wonderful music with his son. We're sure he is entertaining a Heavenly crowd now in the company of his brother and parents. We will miss him greatly.

We we’re so sorry to hear of the
passing of Walter. He and I met probably back in 2001 when we both
we’re playing with the Atlantic Pops in EHT, NJ. We hit it off from our
first conversations. We discovered how many of the clubs, bars, and
other venues that both of us had worked in, but I was never the
saxophone player that he was. He taught me many music things.
I will always think of the fabulous “ diminished scale” riff that he would
use and which he taught me.
We spoke almost once per week since moving to North Carolina. That
is a lot of phone since May of 2007. The othe day while putting my
tenor away, I thought “ I will call Walter and see what he is doing”.
Then realized, He is not here any longer. I will greatly miss our weekly
talks about everything musically, and politically although we were on
“Different Sides of the Fence”.
I will miss him greatly. A mass will be said a St. Stephens Catholic
Church in Sanford, NC, for him. I express my sorrow to Gerri, his wife,
and sons. He is in our prayers.

To the Palmer family,
Please accept the most sincere condolences from myself and every member of the Cumberland County College Bands. We were truly blessed to had the pleasure to enjoy Walt as a person, mentor, and accomplished musician.
His humor, sense of community, and caring for his musical colleagues was truly appreciated by all. Walt and I enjoyed many conversations about the need for, and power of, musical activity and it’s ability to create community and wellbeing. I will miss him greatly, but his contributions to me and my organization will never be forgotten, The ‘Skipper’ will always be at the helm of our performances and activities. Gig on Walt !!

Walt, George and I are so very sorry about the loss of your dear father. We know how heartbreaking it is to lose a parent. Your Dad was so young at heart and delightful to talk with. In reading his obituary we see that he was quite accomplished and I know he will be missed by so many. He's now in the Arms of the Angels probably playing his music!
Our sincerest condolences to you and your entire family.....George and Fran.

Walt was one of a kind. I admired him for the way he lived his life and how much he accomplished in his lifetime. I’ll remember all your stories, the concerts I watched you play in and the laughs we had playing Scrabble. I’ll miss our football conversations and the times I got to watch some of the Eagles games with you. I will truly miss you. My condolences to the Palmer family. ❤️ Nora

I thoroughly enjoyed playing with Walter as a teen/early 20s at CCC. He didn't care how old or young you were, he treated you just the same. Some of my favorite memories was playing Barnum, NYC, and Cape May (part of the yearly summer series). Though it was only 3 years, almost 20 years ago, I will never forget him. Thanks for the acceptance and memories Walter!!!
