Obituary of Claire O'Malley

Claire Catherine O'Malley, (nee McCann) age 89, of Erma passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, PA; she resided there until moving to Erma, NJ in 1992. She is the daughter of the late James and Maria Thelma (nee Cobbin) McCann. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's Academy in Philadelphia. Claire worked at Woolworths and Pier 6600 in Wildwood for a number of years. Claire loved the beach, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of the CYO and various activities at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish in Philadelphia Claire was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years John (Jack) O'Malley, for whom she was a wonderful caregiver for many years. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Kristopher Reed, her sisters Doris McCann, Grace Drach, her brothers James (Jake) McCann, John McCann, Joseph McCann, Reverend Dennis (Buddy) McCann, Kenneth (Roy) Gerard McCann, and her sons-in-law Bernie Pease and Donald Sautter. She is survived by her eleven children: Patricia (Don) Crist, John III (Rose), Theresa Sautter (Anthony Verrecchia), Kathleen (Tom) Reed, Debra (Anthony) Piro, James (Stacey), Sue (Joe) Catanoso, Ann Pease, William (Connie), Patrick (Annmarie) and Kevin. Also surviving are her 27 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, her sisters Maria (Mickey) Sorensen, Sister Joan Marie McCann, Diane Andrews, Annette Ryan, and Connie McCann. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame De La Mer Parish Church of St. Ann's, 2900 Atlantic Ave, Wildwood, at 11am on Thursday, December 30; friends will be received from 10:00am to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
