Obituary of Walter Statkiewicz, Jr.

Statkiewicz, Walter R., Jr., age 71 of Lewes DE, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, Walter was a master chef volunteering with community organizations, men's mission's and soup kitchens. He also loved gardening, singing gospel music, and was a lifelong member of the NRA, but the two things he loved most in life were his mother, Florence, and his dog Brutus.
Walter started a successful career after graduating from Central High School in 1967, and went on to earn several degrees. In 1975, he earned his BS in Biology and BA in Psychology from Lock Haven State College, and in 1984 he earned his master degrees in Biological Science and Computer Science, and PHD in Science Education and Technology from West Virginia University. From 1976-1985, Walter was a Graduate Teaching Fellow, Research Assistant and Benedum Fellow; during this time, he was part of a team recognized by the White House with the Golden Hammer Award for helping NASA achieve ISO certification.
Walter then worked for CACI, Inc. in northern Virginia as a Sr. Program Project Manager, and Anteon Corp as Joint Staff in the Pentagon, Office of the Secretary of Defense. He was a project manager on Army Court Martial Information System, and re-engineered the organizational structure and technology for US Information Agency for dissemination information worldwide receiving a commendation from the Deputy Director. Walter also worked with Optimal Solutions and Technologies as a Project Manager and Software Developer.
He was recognized for outstanding performance by Chief Judge and Commander of the US Army Court of Criminal Appeals, and was highlighted in Global Register's "Who's Who… in Executives and Professionals".
Walter is survived by his mother Florence, sister Sharon (Joseph) Sciuto, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held 11am on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. John Neumann Parish, St. John of God Church, 680 Townbank Rd., N Cape May. A visitation will be held from 6pm – 8pm on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N Cape May. Interment will be privately held.
