Obituary of Joseph Thompson

Thompson, Joseph G., age 67 of Villas passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, July 26, 2021. Born in, and formerly of, Philadelphia, Joseph has been an area resident for over 30 years. He was a graduate of North Catholic, and worked as a commercial cook with Snow Canning Co. in Lower Twp. for 20 years and also as security with Ocean Towers of Wildwood for 13 years. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and camper, and was a loyal Knight with Greater Cape May Elks Lodge 2839 of Villas. Joseph was a member of the Elks Lodge Dart League, and was a longtime patron of Firehouse Tavern and their shuffleboard league. He also was a devoted fan of the Eagles, Phillies and Nascar. Joseph is survived by his wife of 19 years, Carol (nee Tice), daughters Ashley Thompson Watson and Sarah Thompson, sisters Beatrice (Dan) Cappella, Jean (Robert) Moore, Geralyn (Walt) D'Lutz and Maggie (Richard) Payne, and his fur-child (pup) Ginger. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Alison, Danny (Katie), DJ (Amanda), Gracie, Richie, Rebecca and Christina, and great-nephews Nick and Nolan an great-niece Violet. He is predeceased by his niece Joy. A funeral service for Joseph will be held at 12noon on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N Cape May; friends and family may call one hour prior to service from 11am – 12pm.
