Dorothy "Dottie" Marie Wall (Weigle), age 86, died after her second struggle with kidney cancer in the afternoon of June 4, 2021, comforted by family in Cape May Court House, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was a summer resident at the family home in Wildwood Crest, NJ where she met her husband to be Walter F. Wall (Frank) of Upper Darby, PA. Dottie and Frank were married on December 18, 1954, and remained so until his death in 1989. She traveled throughout Frank's Army career, sometimes being reassigned to a duty station multiple times to Germany, New Jersey, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Kansas, and Virginia. While Frank served two unaccompanied tours in Vietnam, Dottie was the single parent of 4 boys in Philadelphia and New Jersey. They finally settled together after Frank's military retirement to Wildwood Crest in 1975. The family moved more than 12 times enjoying each assignment meeting and making friendships with military and civilian families. Dottie was a resilient individual with many talents, intelligence and a contagious sense of humor. Dottie was an active member of the Officer's Wives Club and other military support programs. Dottie had a passion for reading and singing. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines International-Cape Shore Chapter for 22 years. She was a long-time member of the Assumption Church where she sang in the choir. Dottie was first diagnosed with kidney cancer in the mid-1980s, but after removal of the kidney she returned actively to her normal routines. Dottie retired from a job she loved as a Realtor after more than 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents (William and Lillian (Morgan)), her brother, William (Kathleen McKenna), both long time Wildwood Crest residents, and her sons Kenneth (2015) (Patricia Gicas) of Houston, TX and Francis (2018) (Patricia Porch) of Murrell's Inlet, SC and two grandchildren Shane (2014) of Woodbine, NJ and Stephen (2013) of Houston, TX. She is survived by three of her children: Walter (Sue Bretz) of Melbourne, FL; Ronald of Wildwood Crest, NJ; and Dorothy "Michele" (Everett "Chip" Vassar) of Wildwood Crest, NJ; her 6 grandchildren Christopher (Lisa Guida) of Melbourne Beach, FL, Lauren (Cory Curtin) of Chantilly, VA, Jeffery "Bryan" (Rose Butler) of Asheville, NC, Ryan (Alissa Broadbent) of Mackenbach, Germany, Timothy (Katie Payne) of Corpus Christi, TX and Jennifer of Seattle, WA; 15 great grandchildren Christian, James Holmes, Lonnah, Dillon Curtin, Ainsleigh Curtin, Lilly, Jace, Scarlett Curtin, Nolan, Marigny, Ellie, Fiona, Talon, Adison, and Madison; and sister-in-law Frances "Cookie" (Sonny Russom) of Pompano Beach, FL and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and admired her for her integrity, strong will, love of family and independence.
In accordance with her wishes, a memorial of her life will be privately held by immediate family. In lieu of flowers, Dottie would favor contributions to Sweet Adelines International-Cape Shore Chapter, American Cancer Society or Veterans of America.
