James P Harris, Jr., age 31, of Rio Grande passed away suddenly Friday, November 22, 2013 at his home. James was born in Cape May Court House and has been a life-long Cape May area resident. He was a commercial fisherman and the Captain of the trawler Abracadabra for ten years. James was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Raymond Lafferty and his paternal grandparents Wilma & Edwin Harris. He is survived by his son J P Harris III; his parents James P & Bertie Harris of North Cape May; his sister Jennifer J (Alyson) Harris of Boston, MA; and his maternal grandmother Joyce Lafferty of Washington Twp, NJ. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. The family suggests donations in James' memory to the Fisherman's Memorial, 997 Ocean Drive, Cape May, NJ 08204.
