Leo A Moriarty, age 80, of North Cape May passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with many health issues. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ; lived in Elizabeth, NJ; and moved to the Cape May area full time in 2001. Leo summered here since 1986. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1953 to 1955. Leo retired in 1998 from Breeze-Eastern Corp in Union, NJ. He was a regular at the Wellness Center at Cape Regional Medical Center. Leo was predeceased by his parents Leo Sr. and Myrtle (nee Branum) Moriarty. He is survived by his sisters Virginia (Ron) Muller & Marie Moriarty and his brother Richard Moriarty. Leo will be sadly missed by the love of his life, longtime friend, and companion Joan Smith and his dog Birdie. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14 at Parish of St John Neumann, St John Of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ. Burial will be in Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leo's memory to Cape Regional Medical Center, PO Box 25, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, or Holy Redeemer Home Care, 1801 Route 9, Swainton, NJ 08210.
