I enjoyed fishing with Jack for more than 20 years on the beaches and rock jetties of Cape May Point. Jack was a zealous fisherman who seldom missed any opportunity to be out on the jetty. He was always trying to catch another "big one". He would would make cast after cast in all kinds of weather from his favorite Lehigh jetty. One blustery cold November morning Bob Richmond & I were on the Convent Jetty and Jack was on Lehigh with John Palmer. It was so nasty that we all had wet weather gear on. Jack managed to hook a ~ 45 lb striped bass which was too big to get with his 15 foot long handled net that Jack always carried. So old John Palmer had to climb down into the rocks to grab this huge fish at risk to life and limb. One of many great memories ! Jack was a very generous guy who netted many a fish for me, shared freely his vast fishing knowledge and would often very generously give me some of his tackle, lure, or bait if he was catching fish and what I was using wasn't working. Every hard-core Cape May Point fisherman knew Jack. He was a legend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Lisa & I send our very sincere condolences to Jean and all of Jack's family.
