Obituary of George R Beck

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Richard Beck Sr., age 71, of Cape May NJ, passed away after a sudden and brief illness on June 19th 2020. He was born August 17th 1948 in Collingswood NJ to Margaret and Ner Beck and graduated from Salesianum High School in Wilmington DE. He married Virginia Bazela in 1966 and they had three sons - George Jr., Tobin, and Ner. He worked for Bell Atlantic Phone Company, which later became Verizon, until retiring early in 1999 when he started his own home remodeling business, "B's Home Improvement". He fully retired to valiantly care for his wife with Alzheimer's until her passing in 2014. Through the years, he enjoyed building and tinkering with anything mechanical, from house additions to lamps and tables. He was always on-call for advice on fixing anything broken in the house or garage. He cherished time with family and treasured large family holiday celebrations and was known for continuing his mother's tradition of cooking numerous trays of lasagna, a long-held family recipe, at the Christmas holidays. He made countless friends over the years, from the extended family members of the Bazela, Marrazzo, Cugliotta, Bateman, Mongillo, and Katsuura families to work associates, friends of his sons, and most recently the locals of Cape May NJ. He is survived by two sons, George and his wife Laura, Tobin and his wife Christy, daughter in law Beth (Ner), five grandchildren; Peyton, Chase, Zoe, George III, and Conner, and his brother Ner and wife Bobbi as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a great Father, Husband, Grandfather, Brother and friend to many and will be dearly missed. A celebration of his life will be planned when travel is safe.
