Gary Chaney, age 85, of Cape May County, New Jersey passed away on September 12, 2019. As per his wishes, he passed away at home with family and music he loved. Gary was born on December 30, 1933 to Russell and Etheleen (Pitney) Chaney. He attended Mexico High School in Mexico, MO. After graduation, Gary enlisted in the Air Force in 1953. He worked with the 48th F.I.S. (Fighter Interceptor Squadron). Gary proudly served his country for more than 20 years. He is a life member of the VFW. Gary married Patricia Stephens (née) Schmitt. They enjoyed 40 years together having a good time with family and friends. They loved to dance, travel and being snow birds (splitting the year between Florida and New Jersey). Gary will be lovingly missed by his wife Patricia (née) Schmitt Chaney; children: Teresa (Kenny)Souder, Cynthia (Allen) Smith, Christina Stephens, John Stephens. Also, by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As well as, his siblings and numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service for Gary will be held at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, N Cape May, NJ on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 1pm; friends may call from 12:30pm until time of service. Entombment will be held immediately following service at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cape May. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gary's name to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org or P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, K.S. 66675-8516.
