Bartholomew K. Vearling Of Del Haven, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, August 30. Bart was born on July 26, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA. to his parents Elmer P. Vearling and Ruth E. Norrie. The second of 3 children. A brother Peter and sister Veronica. He graduated from Triton Regional High School in Runnemede, NJ. Shortly after leaving school he joined the army and was deployed to Vietnam for 2 tours where he was awarded the bronze star, and then he was stationed in Germany. His 12-year military career shaped his life and he was active in veteran's affairs until his last days. He went on to become a trucker, driving big rigs around the entire country which he enjoyed so much that when he retired, he went back to work for JD Bailey so he could keep driving. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding with his buddies. He made numerous long treks to join his fellow vets and friends at biker rallies. Bart is survived by his 2 siblings and his wife of 39 years, Virginia Unkle Vearling. He leaves behind 5 children, Kim, Beau, Richie, Nicole and Zach, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 nieces. He loved animals, especially his dog Rocky and he cared about the welfare of all living creatures. A Memorial service will be held Friday, September 6 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church 13 W. Bates Avenue, Villas, NJ. Visitation will be from 9 – 10 am followed by a service. All are welcome to join the family for a celebration of Bart's life at the Two-Mile Landing in Wildwood Crest from 12:30-2:30.
