Obituary of DeAnn L Powers

DeAnn Louise Powers, age 57 of North Cape May, NJ, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at her home. A devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, she will be sadly missed by all. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Evoy Funeral Home on July 22, 2019 at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at noon. DeAnn was born in Reading, PA to Roger Henry and Terry L. (Schlegel) Henry on January 13, 1962. She graduated from Hempfield High School in 1979. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Widener University in 1983. Early in her career, she worked as a registered nurse at Lancaster General Hospital and Prince George's County General Hospital. Later in her career, she worked with students with special needs as a classroom aid in Howard County and Lower Township Elementary Schools. She enjoyed walking, spending time at the beach with family, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. She was an active member of the Alberta Gary Memorial United Methodist Church. DeAnn is survived by her husband of 35 years, Charles (Chuck) Powers, her children, Brittany (James) Ellis, Michael, and Caitlyn, sister, JoAnn (Stephen) Van Dixon, parents, Roger Henry and Terryl Henry, granddaughter, Piper Ellis, niece, Amanda (Kyle) Wolf, and nephew, Christopher Van Dixon. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the health care providers at the Hope Community Cancer Center, Cape Regional Medical Center and Holy Redeemer Hospice.
