SOUDER, JAMES E. SR., 82 of Cape May, New Jersey and Naples, Florida entered into eternal peace on April 12, 2019 with his family at his side. He was born on February 26, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jack and Sara Souder. Jim was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and was president of the Philadelphia Water Color Club and the Society of New Jersey Artists. He taught art lessons at the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts in Cape May. Jim was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades for over 50 years, as a painter, manager, and business owner. He was an avid sports fan and an exceptional baseball player and coach. Married for sixty years, Jim was a loving and devoted family man. Jim is survived by his wife of sixty years, Helen E.; and five children: James E. Souder, Jr. (Patricia Callinan) of Cape May; Susan Fox (James) of Ashburn, Virginia; Carolyn MacDonald (James Andrew, Jr.) of Manahawkin, New Jersey; and Christopher Souder and Steven Souder of Naples, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Madison and Sydney Fox and James Andrew III and Tyler MacDonald. Viewing and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington Street (Mall), Cape May, NJ. The viewing will be from 12:30-1:30 pm, followed by Mass. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Road, Cape May, NJ 08204. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Jim's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: (800) 805-5856.
