William Shuda, Jr. (Capt Bill), age 91, of Rio Grande, NJ and Stuart, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Stuart Nursing & Restorative Center with his son Bill and his daughter-in-law Marjie by his side. Capt Bill was born October 14, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA.
He was a World War II Veteran who served his country in the US Coast Guard on Destroyer Escorts. After the war he married Sophie Uzdavines and had two sons. He was employed by Arco Refinery in Philadelphia for 30 years, retiring in 1965, as well as Captaining various fishing boats. Capt Bill also started his own business, Home Port Charts, his true passion. He lived his final years in Stuart, FL with his son Bill and daughter-in-law Marjie. Capt Bill is survived by his sons: William (Marjorie) and James (Margaret); grandchildren, sister-in-law Julie Uzdavines Noreik, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St Raymond's RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ.
