Obituary of Edward Tanaka

Tanaka, Edward, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Cape May, NJ on Saturday October 13, 2018. Edward was born in Manhattan, NY to the late Kotoro Tanaka and the late Mabel Stewart Tanaka. He served in the US Air Force in England where he met and married Patricia Ann Farrell, in Manchester, in 1957. After being honorably discharged, Edward and Patricia moved to Brooklyn, NY then to Jackson Heights Queens, NY where they had their only child, Matthew. Edward was a carpenter by trade and worked as a letter carrier for the US Post Office in Manhattan for 35 years before retiring to their beloved Cape May where he and Patricia enjoyed many happy years together. Edward loved to cook and enjoyed fishing. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. Edward is predeceased by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Patricia, and three brothers, Donald, Willie and Victor and is survived by his son Matthew Edward Tanaka and three brothers, Roland, George and Franklin Tanaka. A service will be held at 2pm on Thursday November 1st at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 612 Franklin Street, Cape May, NJ 08204.
