Robert P. DeFazio, 76 of Wildwood Crest, NJ passed away on 5/11/18 at North Cape Rehab in North Cape May, NJ surrounded by family and friends after short fight with bladder cancer and kidney failure. Robert was born on 7/11/41 in Bryn Mawr, PA to Sam & Rose DeFazio. He went to school at Monsignor Bonner High School and graduated in 1959. He went on to become a great chef and partner in Enrico's Restaurant for 15 years, he then ran the Rusty Rudder Restaurant with his wife for 29 years and finally retired his chef coat in Summer 2017 working at the Bal Harbor Restaurant. He enjoyed going to the casino with his wife, watching sports in his man cave, sitting on his porch and loved cooking and spending time with family especially his grandchildren. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Gervasi DeFazio of Wildwood Crest, his children: son Robert DeFazio, his wife Rosa of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Lisa DeFazio Murphy of Cape May Beach, his Brother Tony DeFazio and wife Terri of Milton, DE. Grandchildren: Sam DeFazio, Adrianna DeFazio, Ryan Murphy, Robert Murphy, Jack Murphy & Sean Murphy. Nieces: Nicole Dorn of Sarasota, FL and Regina Boehm of Wildwood Crest, Nephew AJ DeFazio of Philadelphia, PA and a huge extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to Survivors of Cancer, PO Box 266, Wildwood, NJ 08260 in Robert's name. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the amazing staff of North Cape Rehab in North Cape May to Angelic Palliative & Hospice Care, and the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care of North Cape May and the amazing and caring drivers of CMC Fare Free Transportation. Robert would like to be remembered as a simple, hardworking, kind soul and a true extraordinary gentleman who loved and cared for everyone. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday May 17, 2018 at 12 noon at Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., North Cape May, NJ and friends and family may call from 11am to 12pm at the funeral home.
