Robert E Gudknecht, age 82, of Cape May Court House, NJ passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at his home. Robert was born May 26, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA and formerly lived in that city. He has been a Cape May area resident for 9 years. He is the son of the late John M and the late Ruth (nee Rice) Gudknecht. Robert served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961. He was employed by Dr. David B Soll of Philadelphia PA as a Medical Photographer for 30 years. He was an avid boater and belonged to the Delaware River US Power Squadron. Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years Anne (nee Weidner) Gudknecht; his daughters: Arlene Vogt & Carol (Steven) Fritz; and his son Robert (Denise) Gudknecht. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Janine, Olivia, Kyle, & Nicholas. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Robert's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
