Obituary of Salvatore Frank Russello

Salvatore Frank Russello, 83, loving father and "Pop Pop" died in Christ on September 9, 2017 at his home in Rio Grande, NJ. Sal was married to Monica Adelle Fitzpatrick for 38 years. Monica passed away in 2007. They had four children, Raymond Russello the youngest, and three girls, Lucille Ghigliotty, Angela Johnson (husband Jerry Johnson), and Jean Overstreet (husband Robert Overstreet). He also had three beloved grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Shannon Perez, Salenna Russello (twin girls) and Shane Ghiliotty. Sal and Monica were loving hands on grandparents who helped raise and take care of Shannon and Salenna while they were in grade school. Sal was very close to all three of his grandchildren and was blessed with a great grandchild in 2014, Zuriel Perez. Sal was a career military man, bravely serving his country for 20 years in the Air Force before retiring as a Staff Sargent. He was a veteran of two wars, Korea and Vietnam. In the Air Force he got to do what he loved most, travel and work on airplanes. He was blessed to have the opportunity to visit almost every country in the world while in the service. Sal was only in his 30s when he retired from the Air Force, so he and Monica bought an apartment building in Wildwood called the Woodvale on Spencer Avenue which they ran together for another 15 years before retiring and moving to Rio Grande. Sal stayed active till the end of his life. He loved music, cooking, his family dancing, traveling and was blessed to have his girlfriend Doris to share time and life with for the last several years. Sal has one living sibling, Frank Russello, a sister (deceased) Lucy Giordano, and a brother (deceased) Michael Russello. Sal will be greatly missed by his family. There will be a viewing from 1:00 to 2:00 Pm on Sunday, September 17, 2017 followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204.
