John T Markley, Sr., age 78, of Erma, NJ. passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Victoria Manor Nursing Home. John was born December 24, 1938 in West Cape May and has been a life-long area resident. He is the son of the late John E and the late Mary (Woolson) Markley. John was employed by the Snow-Borden Cannery in Lower Township retiring after 54 years of service. He worked on the docks since the age of 16. John loved antique cars and enjoyed going to car shows. He was preceded in death by his son William Markley. John is survived by his wife of 59 years: Shirley (Brodbeck) Markley of Erma, NJ and one son: John T Markley, Jr of Erma, NJ. Also surviving are his brother Charles Markley; his sister Mary Jane Hedley; his grandson: Jessie Markley; and his 5 great grandchildren: Riley, Jordan, Kaydan, Jessie Lynn, & Pasley. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. The family suggests donations in John's memory to the Diabetes Foundation, 13 Sunflower Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
