Obituary of Clare Solberg Gault

Clare Solberg Gault, 92, of Cape May Point peacefully joined her late husband Frank M Gault in heaven on Saturday, May 20, 2017. A loving mother and wife, she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her three children: Marsha (wife of Brett Wilson of Fort Atkinson, WI); Bryan (husband of Debra Gault of Allentown, PA); and Davison (husband of Jolene Gault of Tijeras, NM); as well as her 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Frank, she is predeceased by her parents Marshall and Clara (Simon) Solberg and her sister Caroline Solberg O'Brien. Clare received her bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College and her master's degrees from the University of Chicago and Keane College. Clare was a beloved retired educator of 30 years, finishing her teaching career at the West End School in North Plainfield, NJ. With her husband Frank, she co-authored 18 children's books and they were both inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame in 1987. She resided and raised her family in Watchung, NJ where she was actively involved in the Wilson Memorial Union Church, Watchung Volunteer Fire Company, and the Fresh Air Fund. In 1997, she retired to Cape May Point, NJ where she was active in the Cape May Point Civic Club and Garden Club. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204 on Friday, June 16, 2017. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 AM at Beadle Presbyterian Church, Cape May Point, NJ 08212. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clare's memory to the Cape May Point Civic Club, PO Box 178, Cape May Point, NJ 08212 and the Watchung Volunteer Fire Company, 57 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ 07069 would be greatly appreciated.
