Frederick, Catherine M. "Kay" (nee Lewis),94 of West Wildwood peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness on Sept. 6, 2012. Kay was born in Philadelphia the youngest of ten children to the late John and Mary Jane Lewis. At the age of 16, she graduated from Frankford High Schoo;. In 1937, she married Robert and went on to have seven children. As a child, she spent her summers in West Wildwood and became a permanent resident in 1948. During ww II, Kay worked for the Philadelphia Roller &Bearing Co. She was a former Municipal Clerk and Tresurer for the Boro. of West Wildwood, a past Republican committee woman and Rebublican Leader. She started working for the Cape May Co. Health Dept. in 1958 when the department was in iats infancy. She was one of two employees. She proudly watched the department grow and after 33 years of service she retired as Assistant Helath Officer. Not one for sitting idle, Kay went to work for her daughter at Island Trophies. She officially retired at the age of 92. Kay had a zest for life. She loved her family, gardening, boating and cooking. She was always progressive in her thinking and a woman who was ahead of her time. Kay is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Robert J. Sr. and her son, Edwin A. She is survived by her loving children, robert J. Jr. (Karla), John H. (Cathy), Herbert "Chuck", William M. (Donna), Mary C. (Robert Booth, Donna L. and daughter-in-law Karen "Kim". She will be sadly missed by her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 10 o'clockat Notre Dame de la Mer Parish (St. Ann Church) 2901 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, where friends may call from 9 o'clock. Interment will be at Cold Spring Cemetery, Lower Twp..
