Thomas L. Berardi, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife of 58 years on March 13, 2017, at his home. Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA to Reverend Alfredo Forte Berardi and Zelma (Hendricks) Berardi. Tom lived in Crystal River for the past 20 years after having moved from Villas, NJ. His lifetime career can best be described as professional truck driver extraordinaire. He had a passion for spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, John. He is survived by his devoted wife Joan, two children, Thomas, Jr. and his wife Michelle, and EvaMarie Berardi Quattrochi; one brother, Anthony and his wife Louisa; three grandchildren, Thomas III, Joseph, and Gabrielle; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be greatly missed by many friends at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an altar server, a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Men's Club. Tom was also honored for volunteer service at the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park and was an active member of the Crystal River Power Squadron.
Tom's life in Philadelphia and Villas included a great fondness for fishing and boating, and he was a lifetime member of the Villas Fishing Club. Much of Tom's adult life included active membership in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. For the past twenty years, he was employed during the summer months by the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority, where he made many friends who referred to him as the "Silver Fox".
Tom and Joan thoroughly enjoyed traveling together in their RV and multiple cruises with close friends.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017, 11:00 AM at St. John of God Roman Catholic Church in North Cape May.
