Uncle Moe was someone I looked up to ever since I was a little boy when he showed me the disappearing quarter trick (he rubbed it into his forearm so hard it vanished!) Also, when I was little, I was into military stuff and when I visited him and family on Governors Island USCG base he gave me a anchor pin and one of his medals which I still have and treasure. My favorite story of him that shows what kind of person he was was when I was on my way home from Cape May to Fort Monmouth, NJ. I got as far as Egg Harbor and my engine burned out. I didn't know what to do and to make things worse I needed the vehicle to drive to Fort Bragg to go to an assignment there. I called him and he said don't worry, I'll come get you. He drove down in his vehicle, put a tow rope on my jeep, and pulled me and the jeep back to Cold Springs! Uncle Glen jumped in and sold the vehicle for more than it was worth and Grandma Howell let me use her green station wagon to go to Fort Bragg. He was always about taking care of friends and family and I could just as easily imagine him throwing that rope to a stranger out on the water and pulling them back, even at the risk of his own life. Phyllis and family, my condolences, Moe will truly be missed.

What a wonderful man Burt was. Well, we always knew we wouldn't be taking that trip to Japan, but he walked with Jesus since those days with his grand mom back at the Dias Creek Methodist Church. We will catch up with one another in the Kingdom, where no one gets old, or sick. Fair winds and following seas until I see you again my friend. Philomena and family, my heart-felt condolences, but please know deep in your hearts that you will be together with Burt again in Christ.

My deepest condolences to Phyllis and Family. Burt was my shipmate, friend and mentor for over 62 years. I first met/worked for Burt on board the Coast Guard Cutter Campbell, home ported in Staten Island, NY. Our paths crossed many times after that. Later on he was one of three Chief Warrant Officers in the Communications specialty to be selected for promotion to Lieutenant and later to Lieutenant Commander. This alone indicates the type of Officer he was.
God speed, Burt.

Heaven is a much better place now with Bust as a resident. Our world is however at a great loss that can never be replaced.
Burt now joins George (brother in laws) to watch over their family and friends.
God Bless Phyillis and the family in this dark time of tragic loss. Love, Bud
