John J Bonk, Sr., age 82, of Cape May passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. John was born in Philadelphia, PA; but has been a Cape May area resident for many years. He was a Koran War veteran and a member of the Charles Buddy Lewis VFW #5343 of Villas. He was the owner/operator of Bonk's Bar for 37 years in Port Richmond. John was preceded in death by his parents John and Laura (nee Krawiec) Bonk and his son Sergeant John J Bonk, Jr. of the USMC. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Catherine (Murtagh) Bonk; his children: Thomas Bonk, Cathy Hunt, Trish (Bill) Kronenbitter, & Kevin Bonk; his sister Irene (Robert) Hesser; and his grandchildren: Ricky, Erin, Megan, & Kevin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to USMC League All Divisions Detachment, c/o Richard Bryan, 2100 Blackhorse Drive, Warrington, PA 18976.
