Emma Vivian Gowen, age 76, of Cape May passed away peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her home. Emma was born July 13, 1940 in Cape May; lived for 14 years in Port Indian, PA; and moved back to Cape May after her retirement in 1991. Emma was a graduate of Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA with a degree in accounting. She worked for Synthane/Taylor Chemical Company in Valley Forge, PA. Emma was a member of Cape Island Baptist Church in Cape May. She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel J Gowen in 2013 and her brother Athel Hayes. She is survived by her son Dan Brown and her daughter Linda Eitel. Also surviving are: two grandchildren: Danielle Brown & Max Brown, along with her sister-in-law Virginia Hayes. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Cape Island Baptist Church, Columbia Ave & Gurney St, Cape May, NJ 08204. Interment will be private.
